Evaluation 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

1. The first picture is from the opening of the music video, it shows close-ups of the girls getting ready to go out. Close ups show the importance of the storyline, this is quite a girly song so this scene goes well with it and is typically seen in many pop music videos so follows the codes and conventions of them.

2. We included a lot of close-up shots of the main artist throughout the video as this is important to have in music videos and is often seen as it helps promote the artist. Fans will watch the video because they like the artist so that person must be shown a lot throughout the video and close-ups are a good way of showing this.

3. In many pop music videos, there is a love interest so we decided to have one in our video as part of the storyline. This follows the conventions of a pop music video and adds to the story rather than the girls just going out for a night of fun. Fans can also to relate to this as it's something everyone goes through.

4. The fourth picture is from the police outfit scene. We wanted something a bit different so decided to use a fancy dress police costume to show the rebellion of the girls. The lyrics suggest that the girls are crazy and wild and so we thought showing the artist in a police costume would contrast against this, however making it sexy means it still fits in with the rest of the video

5. In the party scene, we showed everyone doing shots as this something that typically happens at parties and helps make it look more realistic. Alcohol is often a prop used in pop music videos so this follows the codes and conventions and fans can also relate to this.

6. In pop music videos, there are sometimes random props so we thought to use a shoe shaped chair. The outfit we decided on was a typical sexy outfit which included suspenders, leather and animal print as we wanted the artist to come across sexy. This also appeals to the male audience due to voyeurism meaning we can widen our target audience.

7. The location for the beginning sequence was a girls bedroom, we chose one that was clearly girly and had a lot of pink in it as this is the typical girl bedroom. This location is often seen in pop music videos based around a female artist so this follows the codes and conventions.

8&9. The last two photos are to show one of the shots we did. We wanted to use continuity when editing so shot the girls going into the party from two angles and matched them up when editing the video together. This makes the video look more interesting rather than straight cuts throughout.
